WE CANT GIVE UP ON FUNDING BOOST FOR GILMORE

The axing of the motorsports complex at Yerriyong is an incredibly disappointing result for the region, but not an unexpected result.

Ms Sudmalis conceded in a statement released on Thursday afternoon the proposal had been discontinued and all possible avenues have been exhausted.

Labors regional spokesperson Stephen Jones said he offered Labors support back in March to help fight for the money to stay in the region.

The project is not proceeding, but Gilmore should not miss out on that funding. Ive written to the Minister for Regional Development to help fight for this funding to stay in the region, and neither the Minister or Member for Gilmore have responded, said Stephen Jones.

Gilmore is crying out for a boost from a project like this, and its disappointing to see the project discontinued.

Labors candidate for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips, said she disagreed with Ann Sudmalis on a lot of things but this money must stay in our region.

Labor is fighting for this money to stay in the region and fighting for local jobs, said Fiona Phillips.
