FRAUDULENT DIRECTORS GET 3 YEAR - $15 BILLION FREE RIDE UNDER MORRISON

Labor is concerned by reports that the key enforcement tool to catch dodgy directors – a Director Identification Number - will not be up and running for at least three years. Fraudulent directors will cost legitimate business owners, their employees and the economy an estimated $15 billion due to Scott Morrison’s inaction in that time. Each day the Morrison Government fails to act on the issue, it could be costing tradies, small business and the economy around $14.5 million. TIME FOR REAL ACTION ON UNPAID SUPER

Evidence provided today at the Senate Economic Legislation Committee’s public hearing clearly shows that the government’s proposed Superannuation Amnesty Bill will do nothing to address the systemic issue of non-payment or underpayment of super or support workers who have had their superannuation stolen by unscrupulous employers. MR MORRISON’S BACKPACKER TAX CHAOS

There is more chaos within the Morrison Government today with the Federal Court of Australia ruling Scott Morrison’s backpacker tax cannot be applied to workers from some countries that have a tax treaty with Australia. The backpacker tax was always an ill-conceived and rushed Government revenue grab – by then Treasurer, Scott Morrison – but sadly, it was broadly supported by the farm sector and National Party MPs.
